Hang-ups

The latest addition to my Tarot cards series is the one traditionally known as The Hanged Man, but I preferred to interpret it with a more sexually ambiguous personnage.  After all, it's not just the males of our species that have all the hang-ups.

While the card indicates being hung up about certain matters, or feeling stuck in an uncomfortable place in one's life, it also suggests it could be time to take a different viewpoint of one's situation.  I painted the clothing all in earth tones to indicate a rather quietly traditional approach to life, but supplied a juicy red apple to symbolize the potential for new knowledge.  The brightly coloured umbrella hints at a vibrant new world at hand, just waiting to be opened.  Our hung up friend here holds the potential to turn his/her life around.  At least that's the way I see it.

(doesn't this card make you want to grab your computer screen and turn it upside down?!)

  4. Blue Sky,
Glad you appreciate my efforts. I think I might have strained my back a bit turning the picture around. Think I'll go hang upside down awhile myself!

  5. Take a different viewpoint is necessary to try to understand our world. That's one of the reasons of my interest for your beautiful work888

  6. Ötli,
That is so true about needing to accept different viewpoints in order to understand our world and not be stuck in our own limited vision.
I'm glad that you're open to my interpretations of how I see the world.

That's so cool that you work with the Tarot daily! I did for a couple of years but, sadly, got out of the habit. I hope to pick it up again. I am so flattered that you like my design for the card.

    Sharmon,
Thanks for "swinging by" and leaving your kind comment on my Hang-ups Tarot card posting. I guess there's really no right or wrong way to look at this one. Nice to find you "hanging about" my back pages.
    :-)
