A last maxim and final medieval...for a time...

I'm going to take a summer holiday from making art and from posting to my art blog.  My sister is here at my home on the east coast of Canada, visiting from the west coast for a couple of weeks.  We'll be tootling around on explorations and adventures and then will fly back to Vancouver together. I'll be out there for all of July and probably into August. (I don't have a return ticket yet!)  Will be visiting family and friends; possibly posting to my "home and away" blog, Décolleté,  from time to time if you want to stay in touch.  I may pop up for visits to see what you're up to, and may even surprise myself with some instant art while away that I'll certainly share with you. I wish you all a happy season, whether it be summer or winter where you are!  See you in September...if not before.

Fed up with the pressures, politics, and petty power plays of her executive job, Candace packs up and sets out to find freedom, hitch-hiking across America.

  2. I have been thinking about dharma lately and how it is the path to the authentic self through our actions, doing what we love, doing what we must do. You as an artist are a wonderful example of this. Thank you. Your doing is as much art as is the intriguing result.

    1. Well, thank you for this. There has been many a time in my life when I have seriously questioned and doubted the worth of my art-making path. It is largely without recognition and financial recompense but it has a value that cannot be weighed, I believe, in the well-being of my soul. It has been, and will doubtlessly continue to be, a compulsion and a need; a gift and a curse. That you value the action itself of creating, is a gift to myself as an artist.

    1. Chances are I will enjoy myself immensely! It won't be a freedom ride but more one of connection as I visit family and old friends and familiar haunts. Thanks for the nice send off!

    1. Candace has a steep learning curve ahead of her but I do hope she gets to use those sandals at least once on her travels, even if it's only for whacking in tent posts or killing mosquitoes! I'm glad you enjoyed the Medieval gallery.
I wish you a wonderful summer, too!

  10. Ah, you are so lucky to have a sister to travel with... I'm lucky to have a virtual one, but often wished long ago for a real one... such is life, one dreams of what can never be... Have a wonderful time, and don't be a stranger... O:-)

    1. Ah little BrO, who knows, perhaps a sister would have loved to torment you. Neither my sister nor I are likely to travel with our brother, and she and I became close only as adults as I am quite a bit older than she. Anyway, at this point, guess you'll just have to make do with the virtual version...strange as she is...

  11. Love the red high-heels dangling from the backpack! And way to go off on a high-note — completing the Medieval series. I'm taking some time off from blogging myself this summer but not doing anything super fun like you. Happy Trails My Friend!

    1. Stickup, I'll miss seeing your gorgeous photos and reading your pithy comments on my blog...only I won't be blogging here so that's a bit of moot point. Happy trails to you, too, into the foothills of summer fun and on to the highest peaks of...whatever you feel most like enjoying.

    1. Well, ta-ta and see ya latah alligatah! I'm almost sorry to go now, with such nice comments coming my way. Trust you to revel in the "strange disconnected feeling" of the eyes in the collage. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
