Maxim, Medieval, Mothers

A triple whammy for you today!  First, here's the maxim of the week...

Although pleased with himself for being able to get into the difficult yoga pose, Graham begins to fear that he may not be able to get out of it.
Maxim:
Another such victory and we are undone.

I've been working full-time for the past couple of weeks and under such circumstances, time and energy seem to shift dramatically and shrink radically.  Consequently, I didn't manage to post an installation in my Medieval Collage Series this week.

I hope this will make up for my lapse.

And last, but not least, here's a little pot of posies

to honour and celebrate Mothers' Day

  1. Hey Lynne with an E
You've got a scratch and sniff post here, or scroll and sniff. As i scrolled past the posie and a waft of scent passed my way!!! He he truly

Ok try typing all that in an iPhone. So Graham's life seems much like mine and your medieval angel is bizarrely cute. A little angel to watch over us

Happy mothers day if you are one and if not happy Sunday

    Ciao ciao Julie

    1. Glad you caught my drift and caught a whiff of the posies...lilacs from the yard, though this particular bunch is from a previous year as the bushes aren't yet in bloom this season.

I don't think I could type anything on an iPhone, or even know how to make a call, so kudos to you!

Bizarrely cute works for me! Glad you like the little dickens of an angel.

Yup, I'm a mum, one-child, long distance but well loved...so thanks for best wishes and I hope your birthday part continues all year long!

      ciao ciao, Lynne xo

  2. Graham may make a complete asana of himself.

Respect for the white garbed rider as only a virgin may tame a unicorn.

    1. Haha! A complete asana, yes. That Graham is a real downward dog.

You'll note the extreme youth of the white-garbed unicorn tamer.

  3. Graham is such a screwed up guy, but hopefully, his Yoga teacher will help him to unwind.

  4. Wow you put my brain on creative overload these are amazing Lynne...love your cartooning and collage fabulous but those flower are exquisite...do I understand correctly that they are digital art because they look like watercolor...whichever they are gorgeous.

    1. Glad to hear you like my maxims. A dedicated little band seem to "get" them.
      :)
You read right, the posies are strictly digital art, created from a photo I took of a little spray of lilacs from our yard one year. Playing around with different filters and layers of texture in Photoshop eventually led to the finished image. Because I'm a painter, I tend to have a certain look or feeling that I want to wring out of an altered photograph, so I'm very pleased that it looked like a watercolour to you.

    1. So happy you liked the offerings. It was a strange mix, but variety is the spice of life...or something like that. Must check on that maxim...

    1. What a perfect word to apply to this collage, "whimsy"! Hadn't occured to me, and I definitely like it. Whether or not you've actually been in that particular yoga pose, I'm pretty sure you've had at least one moment when you felt much as our friend Graham did! And thank you, yes, I did have the most deliciously lazy and relaxing Sunday.

  8. He could end up in A & E at this rate, reminds me of how worms tie themselves into knots in dry weather.

A new twist on the Lady and the Unicorn!

    1. Worms tying themselves in knots?! I have never heard of that! Are you sure they're not practising yoga? Or maybe it's the worm equivalent of crossing one's fingers while making a wish. They're probably wishing for rain.

I like your take on the collage being a twist on the Lady and the Unicorn. The Baby and the Lady Unicorn, perhaps?

  9. ouch, everything is hurting in my body seing this asana! and really reminds me how easily one can get in a situation which seems it can never be solved...
love our collages, too! i have white lilac in my garden and i could sit and smell it day and night! i will enjoy every day it blooms!

    1. Oh I know just what you mean, both about your body hurting to look at difficult asanas (let alone trying to do them!) and about enjoying the intoxicating scent of lilacs. We have both purple and white lilacs in our yard, just beginning to bloom now. The white ones are on a very old, very tall tree so most are too hig to reach to cut, making the bouquet extra special.

  10. My husband's name is Graham and I am sure I could never convince him to do yoga:)!!
I love the humour of your work (actually G is quite flexible really) and I also like the contrast of the soft, lacy and sunny mother's day pic.

    1. Thanks, Loric. It's one of life's little unfair quirks that some people are just naturally physically flexible while others remain stiff and unbending no matter how much they try to stretch their mobility. Maybe it's that way, psychologically for some, as well! I'm happy that you appreciate my sense of humour.

  11. You've outdone yourself! No wonder you're on vacation. Remember my maxim game? The first thing that popped into my head was "been there, do that!" And the collage is so whimsical, like a dream; a Medieval Chagall. The flowers are so welcome cause the web is about the only place I'm going to see any this year. We are having no desert wildflowers this year, so I'll take 'em wherever I can find them. So thanks! Hope your are having a lot of fun!

And I did have a lot of fun!!! I even have the photos to prove it...but that'll be on my other blog...
