Late out of the gate!

I had the best of intentions to get a post up for you to enjoy with your Sunday morning coffees, but was flummoxed to discover that I didn't have a new maxim on hand!  Better late than never?

Connie didn't mind at all being stuck way out in left field.
In fact, she hoped that darned baseball would never
come anywhere near her.
Maxim:
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.

I can relate to that!  I always hated having to play sports at school.

And here's something else I can relate to...

Found this on the web...sorry I can't remember where to give credit...

How about you?

Also mustn't neglect getting another installation of my Medieval Collage Series posted...

c. 2013 L.Ciacco, Masquerade, Collage on vintage book page, approx. 8x6 inches

Looking forward to getting caught up with your blogs as soon as the dust settles around here...

  1. Welcome back Lynne with an e!
Love it, love it, love it...all three pictures are fabulous the middle one reminds me of one of my favorite quotes "The fact that no one understands you doesn't make you and artist." so true we do seem to march to a different drummer anyway I know I do.
    Your medieval collages are awesome!

    1. Thank you Deann without an e! I love that quote about not being understood! I guess artists tend to march to a syncopated beat which makes others think that we're not quite in sync with the rest of the band, but really we've just got a much more interesting way of moving through life. (I just made that up now and it's late so please forgive me if I don't make any sense).
Maybe we could change the quote to:"Just because you don't make any sense doesn't mean you're an artist!"
      :D

  2. Yes I hated sports in school too!Your painting is wonderful and with humour as always.
The masquerade image is awesome and magical. The photo is beautiful with the two girls. It is every time a feast to visit your blog.

    1. Ha! we could have hidden in the locker room together if we were at the same school while the others ran about the field with sticks and things. Or maybe snuck into an empty classroom and drawn pictures on the chalk board. :D
I'm glad you're still enjoying my Medieval collage series.

  3. What a face on your girl Connie the outfielder! Actually I liked sports in school except swimming...didn't like getting my hair wet?!
I sure like all the design elements to this medieval lady's gown...trims, curls, ropes and leaves and her mask too! The mood is set!

    1. Yes, Connie is not the most attractive of young women, but I feel certain that she has a heart of gold under that rather impervious looking exterior. That's so funny about you not liking to get your hair wet...but extraordinary that you had swimming offered at school. I didn't learn to swim until I was 30! Still not comfortable with it, though I don't mind getting my hair wet.
      ;)

  4. The Medieval series would make really awesome playing cards. As for sports, I don't like team sports because I'm not competitive. But, if you point me in a direction and i can run, or bike, or swim, I'm good to go! Glad to have you back!

    1. It did occur to me, after the fact of making them, that the Medieval collage series would work really well within a Tarot deck, perhaps not as major arcana personages but for the other face cards. However, I didn't have enough material to make the quantity needed...But now I think of it, if I could have squeezed out just one more from all the scraps, I would have had 16 face cards...enough for a King Queen Prince Princess for all four suits. Dang! I'll have to check and see if they're still producing Medieval Women calendars so I can get another one and cut it to bits.
That's great that you enjoy those physical activities. Excellent way to stay fit, when you're doing something you really enjoy. I didn't learn to bike until I was 23 but loved it once I did. Other than that, I had dance classes as
exercise for much of my life, and still kick up the old legs from time to time, at random moments (don't stand behind me in a line-up! ...just kidding.)

  5. oh, i´m joining you and anja in the drawing room and training my brain instead of muscles;) i love walking around in nature, but that must be sports enough!

    1. I love walking, too, even in a city--or maybe especially in a city because I've lived in a rural setting for so many years now. Walking is my chief form of exercise these days, other than an occasional bout of yoga or spontaneous burst of dancing in my studio.
Glad you're liking the art work here.

  7. I too hated sport at school but did have a mid life "crisis" (later life???? what's an age anyway" a couple of years ago and became a gym junkie. My PE teacher would have fainted if she had known:) I love the humour in your work, and those eyes on your collage are fantastic. As for the little girls - i definitely can identify with that - and have seen it and posted it on fb- making fun of myself i suppose.
Thanks for the feedback on Wordpress..... i am very confused about it... i actually paid money for an account (the wrong sort) in a frenzy of frustration with blogger late one night .... it may just sit there unused too......

    1. That's awesome that you got a second wind and became a gym junkie in your...more mature years! I always felt intimidated and out of place in a gym but right at home in a dance studio (though not so much in the past decade or so!). Nowadays, I enjoy getting to a yoga class now and then. Whatever turns our cranks and keeps us mobile!
I'd like to "conquer" Wordpress as I see some very attractive sites but with two blogs and two Facebook pages to "feed" I just don't feel up to taking on another outlet. Although...Tumblr looks rather tempting...
      :-D

    1. Each to her own, I guess. Live and let live...as long as I'm not forced to participate in games.
Glad you like the collage colours, Ruby (just realized what a very colourful name you have!). I had great source materials from the Medieval Women calendars that were very inspiring to work with.

    1. You know, it's beginning to get a little beyond me, too. I've got out of the habit of doing one a day so it's getting to seem like pulling hen's teeth. Once I'm in the rhythm of making them, they pretty much flow, though.

(Your secret is safe with me! I'll put on my beret and meet you at the bistro while the gym class is out running cross-country).
