Maxim of the Week

During the group tour to the national park, Janice hoped she looked calm, cool, and in control as she desperately awaited her turn to make use of the ladies' outhouse.
Maxim:
Still waters run deep.

    1. Suki,
Just a little pressure applied in the appropriate spot to relieve the tension, rather like the little Dutch boy and the hole in the dyke story.

    1. Danielle,
The boots were bought especially for her outdoor adventures, city slicker style.

    1. Lynn,
This is her forest outfit, with a nod to Robin Hood.

I think that was Janice's intention. She'll be glad to hear it worked!

    1. Shirl,
Well, she was walking a little strangely by the end of the day, but it could have been the boots.

  6. I have seen that look before on the people waiting outside the washroom at The Caves when the Cruise buses come in.. I always feel sorry for them.. especially when one soul comes out saying "Don't go in there"

    1. Gwen,
That's too funny! I had a similar experience once or twice in public washrooms in Italy. A good way to measure one's level of desperation.

  7. Been there. I say suck it up and go off in search of a rock or a heavily foliated bush...!

    1. Stickup,
We once came across a woman squatted down beside the passenger's side of the car, right in the middle of the road, with her jeans down around her ankles. I don't know which of us was the more surprised, but I certainly know who was the most embarrassed (or should that be em-bare-assed?)!

  8. I love your humor...right down to true reality...I've been there and painfully smiling!

    1. Blue Sky,
"Art" imitating life: Been there myself a few too many times. Sometimes squatting in the bushes is preferable to what's "on tap" in the outhouse.

  9. pssst, don´t tell... when there are no men in sight, i sometimes use their toilet, when the ladies´ row is too long:) and some of them follow me, it just needs somebody to start...

    1. Johanna,
You and me both! Though the men's room is often not quite as "tidy" as one would like. Why don't public places catch on and put in more stalls in the women's washroom! There's always a huge line-up outside the ladies' while the men just breeze in and out of their facilities. Not fair!

I have to smile at the thought of you slipping these expressions into your conversations. Your new blog is lovely and spacious--and no line-ups to get in.
