Maxim of the Week

Heinrich thought he was doing a good job of fitting in at the dude ranch but he wasn't entirely sure that he'd got the hat right.
Maxim:
A miss is as good as a mile.

    1. Julie,
I don't think Heinrich is quite capable of producing stubble. Just not cowboy material, poor lad. But at least he's having fun.

  3. This really made me laugh, and reminded me of a 5 day horseback ride my husband and I did in montanna. Looks rather like 2 of our group who came from New york city. Cute

There's gotta be at least one in every crowd of dudes at the ranch!

Heinrich as trend-setter? I can see it: Robin Hood meets the Lone Ranger.

    1. Kathryn,
In Heinrich's case, and perhaps your own, the beer stein is the correct measurement for a cowboy hat rather than the gallon. Or perhaps that should be a beer keg? But in that case we'd run the risk of turning the whole thing into a Mexican hat dance.

    1. Suki,
His shirt was inspired by a plaid that's very popular with the older rednecks of the county I live in, generally referred to as "Albert County Plaid". You're right, not actual cowboy material! But then, neither is Heinrich.

    1. Blue Sky,
Now that you mention personal fashion faux pas, I recall a photo or two of myself that I look at now and can't help but exclaim, "What was I thinking and why didn't anyone tell me?!"

  9. Oh my, that hat won't fly! Reminds me of a funny fashion faux-pas story. Me, a friend of mine and her husband, were taking the husband's brother who was visiting from France to the beach. That was until her brother-in-law showed up in a little teeny tiny Speedo swimsuit! My friend said, "No way are you going to the beach with us wearing THAT!" And she made him borrow a pair of her husband's knee-length surfer baggies. Out here, there is a strict code for dudes swimsuits and cowboy hats!

    1. Stickup,
Oh, so living in the wild west is not as unruly and unlawful as one might expect! Your story makes me stop and wonder just what sort of swimming costume Heinrich might have packed in his duffel bag. It took my daughter and I a few years to convince her father to adopt the baggier style of swimming trunks (that's all I'm sayin').

He does look a little self-conscious and dubious, doesn't he? Hopeful, though.
