Doggone it, Christmas is barking at my heels...My Xmas card to you

I don't know how it happens, but every year around mid-December I suddenly wake up to the inescapable fact that Christmas is yapping at my feet and no matter how hard I try, I just don't have the heart to kick it aside.  Most years we put up a tree (after much moral debate), and little twinkling lights around the house, and pile presents under the tree.  This year will be a minimalist effort, with a trimming from a pine tree stuck in a pottery vase to represent the Spirit of Christmas Decorating.   Nevertheless, I find myself compelled to fashion some cards to send to family and friends.  I used to make them all by hand but have since succumbed to the temptation of the computer.

Last year I got quite carried away and made two different Christmas cards.  This is the cuter of the two; the other was more hard edge.  As I'm not sure who got which card last time, I'm making a completely new one this year.  So if I'm a little absent from Ragzedge of late, and from my studio, you know what I'm up to.

P.S.  Feel free to download this image and use it as you'd like...except for selling it, of course.  Ho ho ho!

P.P.S.  Sunday's maxim will be back next week. xo

  3. sukipoet,
Happy to bring a little merriment to you! I hope all goes well, in your very best interests, on Monday...and in the coming year, of course!

  4. Shirl,
Dawg! One sees lots of dogs tethered outside of stores and restaurants in Montreal, in all kinds of weather. They are stalwart and very concentrated on willing their masters to come back outside. But you'll be happy to know that this little pooch was actually inside of a Gap store when I took his picture (pampered pooch).

  5. I like the way you drew the dog's fur and the red gingerbread man is so cute. But it's his expression that really gets me. The eyes say it all. I try to fight Christmas every year but get swept up. There really is a little extra magic in the air that I just can't resist! Have a Happy Season!

  6. Stickup Artist,
The real dog in the store was just adorable. He made me wish I had a doggy treat in my pocket to offer. On the other hand, he may have been too concentrated on keeping his owner's scent in sniffing range of his big nose to be bothered with a treat from a stranger. City dogs are so aloof--at least in Montreal.

I think you're right about that little bit of magic in the air at Christmas, in spite of one's best efforts of being grinchy.

  8. Sharmon,
Good idea! I won't post the new one until after I've actually mailed the hard copies and the recipients have got them in their hot little hands. I just printed up a batch last night and still have to write on them. It's my Xmas tradition to leave everything until almost the last minute.

  10. Owing to Owen's recent arrival Christmas around our house is looking a lot like it is not Christmas, however, a glass of wine (or two) and a chocolate (or three) help to alleviate the panic : ) Goodness! There's still a week to get ready ~

  11. Dreams R Met,
I am happy to hear that you are taking the time to indulge your urge to create. Lately it seems I need to take my own advice a little more to heart.

  12. Driftwood,
However it looks at Christmas, that is what it looks like at Christmas. The arrival of Owen brings joy and chaos in the finest of Christmas traditions!
