Maxim of the Week

Jackie loved Saturday nights when she could go down to the Karaoke OK Bar and sing her heart out.
Maxim:
It's the singer not the song.

Gone But Not

Astral Projection (18 x 24 inches)

Hallowed Ground (18 x 24 inches)

Two of my favourite collages found their rightful owner this weekend in Quebec. When one's artwork goes to someone who falls in love with it, it eases the pain of parting. That and the cheque, of course ;-)

These are works on paper adhered to stretched canvas. Mixed media: collaged fabric, papers, found rusted objects, beads & thread, acrylic paints and mediums.

Maxim of the week

Although unaware of the concept, "the medium is the message," Jalal faithfully ranted his dire warnings daily.
Maxim:
The end is always nigh.

Spontaneous Combustion

C. sent me a mother's day card which was nice, but what was really exciting about it was the Jack Bush stamp on the envelope. Right away I thought I'd use it to make art of my own, with a nod to Jette Clover (imitation is the highest form of praise??). Just a few minutes ago, I dashed to my studio, yanked some fabric from the shelf, ripped it up, experimented...et voilà! Not going to overthink it. Unfortunately, not even going to finish it at this point. Another piece thrown on the scrap heap to await my ministrations! But, man, was it satisfying to let that creative fire flare. (BTW--the lime green ground is not part of the composition)

Theme Along With Me

Seeing as the Nick Cave video I posted (see below) has an African feel to it, I thought I'd post yet another of my works-in-progress pieces, also with an African motif. It still needs to be stitched and beaded within an inch of its life...

Maxim of the Week

Alysse reached the point where she felt she'd attack anyone who asked if her pet was a dog, a cat or a pig ever again.
Maxim:
Love me, love my pet.

Maxim of the Week

Many years later, Phillip would realize that his role in the high school production of the Pirates of Penzance was the happiest time of his life.
Maxim:
You don't know what you've got till it's gone.
