This is a digital collage that I did some time ago when goofing around in Photoshop. It features a door I saw in Calabria on the outskirts of Pizzo "collaged" into a scan I'd done of some fabric bits. I guess it's the precursor of the series I'm working on now in 3D but I'd completely forgotten that I'd even done this.Copyright: All artwork/content protected under ©2007-2011 Lynne Ciacco

Oldie but Goodie

Taking the Plunge

I finished sewing together another fabric/photo transfer collage in my Textures of Calabria series. This time I took the plunge and glued the finished piece onto a stretched canvas. It looks rather busy and bright right now but the plan is to add paint and texture and integrate the elements. I've decided to go with my painterly inclinations rather than create the series as straight-up fabric art. I have no idea how it will all turn out.

Art Therapy

The Big Picture (30x22in.): This work on paper began with cut-up bits from a Robert Bateman calendar and progressed very quickly, spontaneously, intuitively. Is it a satisfying piece of art on the whole? It satisfied a need for a pent-up energy release that has been brewing within me for some time. The need to engage with paint, to let loose, to free myself of the Inner Critic.
