Old Rocking Chair's Got Me

This image is made from my experiments with arty apps on my new tablet, slapped on to a photo of a wicker rocker I've had for decades. The result reminds me of a painting from my  Chair Series

I'm presently visiting Montreal so this is as close to making art as I get. It's both fun and frustrating. But mostly fun.

  1. Lovely ... the whole composition and color marking creates a moment, a place of welcoming. Great job!
I have a question? I have recently been altering photos of my work in ways that interest me and would like to see them off screen on good paper. A trip to the art store didn't provide such good paper choices that would fit through my printer. Maybe an outside place ... a printer? Have you taken your altered digital pieces to printing on artist level paper?

    1. Mary Ann, you can get special photo paper made for these types of prints. Try your office or photo supply store.

    2. Glad you like my latest digital experiment, Marianne. I haven't printed out my art work, other than as art cards on watercolour paper but someone who commissioned me to create a digital piece had the work printed up at Wal-Mart and was very satisfied with the result. Also, Costco seems to have a good art quality printing service. But as Sharma points out, most copy places/printers have art paper options.

The art supply store that I deal with has all sorts of home printer size digital paper options as well (Opus Framing and Art Supplies) if you want to dig around on their site to see what's out there.

    1. Thanks so much, Sharmon. I was really curious about how this picture might appear to viewers as I can only see it on my small tablet screen which doesn't have the greatest resolution. Now if I could only recall the processes I used to get this painterly result!

  4. That looks so inviting. A sleeping moggy on one's lap, a glass of chilled Sav Blanc, and a crime thriller. Bliss.

  5. This is a lovely little picture I like the very subtle rainbow effect that runs across it...this would look so great hanging with a grouping of live plants.
