Collage of recycled calendars, commercial paper, art papers, on vintage book page; 8 x 5.5 in |
Not sure just what`s gong on in this little exchange.
Something like "A penny for your thoughts?"
Also not altogether certain of the sex of the person on the balcony (I deliberately created this ambiguity by pasting the feminine features over beard-shaped hair).
Perhaps a bearded lady that passers-by pay to view?
A young lad making himself available for a price?"

What think you, good folk of Blogland?
I genuflect while searching
ReplyDeleteWhat only you can give
And offer gifts in silence
For they know not how we live
In the twilight garden
Tangled in the thought
Between our veiled glances
Who is seeker, who is sought?
I am honoured and delighted that such a fine and sensitive verse should be inspired by my collage. Truly lovely. Merci!
DeleteA coin for your love ;) Nice collage!!
ReplyDeleteAh! Yes. The age-old profession.
DeleteI don't think about the sense, I love the collage with so much to see.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that it works on a purely visual level. Thank you!
DeleteThis is a beauty and a puzzler...the connection between the two and the coin could tell many stories! Great detail!
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun how these scenes gradually revealed themselves to me. That little person at the bottom of the picture appeared at the last moment and completed the scenario...and the mystery...from a pile of possibilities that moments prior had just been scraps of paper.
Deleteprovacative combination of calendar pieces. yes, this would be a good "prompt" for a poem or story. the ambiguity is intriguing.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice DCW had taken the prompt from this scene and written a rather charming poem, right at the top of the comments here? I'm glad you appreciate the ambiguity of the scene. Intense yet ambiguous. Like a good poem?
