c.2013 Lynne Ciacco, Le Printemps, torn calendar pages, textured paper, wallpaper, lace, on vintage book page, 7.5 x 5.5 inches |
With the butterflies, ladybug and dragonfly, the tender posies, and the puffy eyes, this collage speaks to the sweet season of spring.
another lovely piece- so fresh and springlike my nose is running just observing! i'm always blown away (no pun there) by the way you can blend so many different elements and textures into your collage work. how many in your series now?
ReplyDeleteHere's a Kleenex to help with that runny nose. Oh wait, sorry--don't use it!--I need that for a collage.
DeleteI have a total of 15 collages in this series. That's it, that's all, there won't be any more because all the rest of the calendar scraps have been discarded. I had hoped to do at least 20 in the series, but ran out of suitable imagery from the calendars. I'm feeding them to my blog one at a time so that they might be properly digested. I have six more to post. Then what???!
Beautiful work, between Arcimboldo and Botticelli...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for introducing me to the remarkable art of Arcimboldo, whom I had never before heard of! I am flattered, humbled, tickled pink that you sandwich my simple collage work between Arcimboldo and Botticelli!

Hi Lynne! I didn't realize you were "Lynne with an e". (And you've changed your appearance- I always thought you were a skeleton- haha!) I love the energy of this collage- the feeling of freedom and whimsy. Cool!
ReplyDeleteFreedom and whimsy--if not in one's life, at least in one's art. I think I might adapt that as a maxim for myself. Yes, I have changed my nom de blog and avatar, and come out as more of myself. I don't think anyone knew how to pronounce "louciao" (loo chow) and there is really only one person in the world who has ever called me that. Plus, I thought maybe the purple skull scared a few too many people off. A change is as good as a cure?
Deletei really like your medieval collages, and the feeling of spring here is just perfect for now!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that to hear that the collages are pleasing you and also that this one has captured the feeling of spring...at least where you are. Still a ways to go in these parts...
DeleteWell Lynne with an E, this one is such a joy to Spring...love the eyes and lips and everything that builds so nicely around these features. Great!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! The collages were put together with no subject in mind and it's only in preparing them for the blog that I see a theme and devise a title. I'm so pleased to hear that it's working!
DeleteVery nice collage, very interesting combination of elements!
ReplyDeleteThe fun of collage, discovering how disparate elements can come together to fashion a pleasing whole. I'm glad you like the result.
Deletewonderful theme. love those letters? coming out of his mouth.
ReplyDeleteSpitting out...or nibbling on?...a bug, actually. Probably inhaled accidentally prior to sneezing to due to afore-mentioned allergies.
