In this one I also added a piece of cotton lace, a shred of polyester curtain , a wallpaper scrap, and some textured tissue paper. All other elements are from various pages in 4 different medievally themed calendars.
I put the image on a black background here so you could see the irregular border of the collage. Each collage is glued onto a page from an old home-decorating book, some of the text showing through into the composition.
Excellent! J'aime beaucoup :)
ReplyDeleteMerci bien!
Deletelovely series
ReplyDeleteThanks. More to come...milking it for all it's worth.
DeleteWonderful mixture of the past and the present!
ReplyDeleteThanks! The far far past, in terms of the medieval subject matter, and the nearer past, in the form of calendars from the 1990's, meeting up with me in my studio with my present day art techniques. Glad you like the mix.
DeleteIt's a modern day illuminated manuscript!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good spin on it: medieval meets modern, yes. I remember the first (perhaps the only?)time I saw genuine illustrated manuscripts; I was absolutely enchanted, totally blown away by their intricate beauty. It was at the British Museum in London and I was only 11 years old. Definitely some of that as inspiration in this mix here.

ReplyDeleteDouble faced and crown'ed wife
One horse to watch and one to kick
Feelings torn, a clever trick
Put together all in stages
Coming from the Middle Ages
Sounds like a potent brew of magic you're concocting there, along the lines of "double double toil and trouble" whipped to a lather with horse's bridle.
DeleteI like the mix and love the pull of the beautiful face...this is an interesting series!
ReplyDeleteIt's surprising the face still remained beautiful even when cut in half and another pair of eyes added. Things almost fit but are a little askew, which I think adds interest. Glad you're enjoying the series.
