Ruby, Hard to find the right balance of maintaining a certain youthful air for one's age vs looking ridiculous. What the heck, might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb...but that's a maxim for another day (I think it's Scottish).
You're right it is Scottish, from the days when such punishments were pronounced. I believe sheep stealing still goes on although we don't hear much about it. Community service or a fine are likely to be the order of the day!
Sukipoet, I finally gave up many of the more colourful outfits from my "glory days" as it was just too painful to realize I'd never be able to get them over my hips again. The only compensation is that I'd look pretty ridiculous flouncing around in them at this stage of my life, even if they did fit. Time for Gustav to embrace the present, I think.
oh my, there is this wonderful pair of jeans, waiting in my wardrobe for fitting again... so hard to face reality;) at least the moths seem to enjoy the tuxedo:)
Johanna, A friend of mine recently got back into a pair of her favourite jeans that hadn't seen the light of day for years, so don't give up hope! On the other hand, maybe it's time to invest in some elastic-waisted stretch denim?
That makes me laugh. It's like looking at old pictures of oneself; past hairdos and outfits you once though were so cool. I will often ask myself, "What on earth was I thinking?"
Brilliant! Though I reckon old clothes mutate in storage - they definitely shrink...
ReplyDeleteDeborah,
DeleteI've noticed that, too! Must be the humidity.
we change with them,or not.....so it seems. And often we're dragged kicking and screaming!
