Maxim of the Week

When Baby Ernest's mother wrapped his monster towel around him after his bath, he couldn't understand why the adults all laughed as he stomped around growling
and being very very scary.
Maxim:
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

(the importance of being Ernest!)

What a delightful idea! If it looks like love, walks like love, and sounds like love--it's love! And how good Baby Ernest would feel to be wrapped up in a love towel!

  2. Ernie walked out in a towel
    Monstrous and bearing a scowl
    But his awful bad luck'll
    Get only a chuckle
    Meriting justified howl

    1. DCW,
The howls did much to convince the adults of the monster within the towel.

Oh my goodness, I never thought that these little maxims might give much away about my own perceptions, but how true that is! Thank goodness this daring exposé of my personal machinations meets with love and acceptance (and a chuckle), at least on your part.

Ernest would not be amused by your laughter! (But I am tickled pink)

    1. Sukipoet,
It's not what you wear but how you wear it! Although, the vision of you parading about town in a "monster" towel could certainly garner some strong reactions...perhaps not all of the sort originally hoped for.

True enough: when I was a wee child cartoons made me cry because the mice were always always getting chased by the cat, the cat getting beaten up by the dog, the dog being clobbered by the....

Oh, it would be interesting to hear your little one's take on Ernest and his monster mania! I'm sure she would have great empathy for him. Does she have her own "monster towel" (perhaps invisible)?

  11. What a different world this would be if we all wore towels such as this after bathing! Can you imagine? One would never be able to stay angry or sad or anything! When I was little, my playmates and I would wear anything we could turn into a cape...

    1. Stickup,
Hmmm, maybe a good idea for a new business venture? Fantasy towels for adults. My daughter used to love to wear her Mickey Mouse ears (which she insisted were Mighty Mouse ears) and a red cape when she was little. One day she asked me if I thought anyone would notice if she wore them to the pool. I'm not sure if she wanted to be noticed or not! When I was little, I was more into wearing my crinoline on my head to represent very long hair (I hope to god I wasn't pretending I was a bride...but I'm not sure any more).
