Maxim of the Week

The happiest moment of Alexi's day was when he'd return home from work and scoop his dog into his arms.
Maxim:
It's only puppy love.

(and I just bet that the puppy's happiest moment was when he heard the can opener after Alexi got home: such is the nature of a puppy's love)

***

On another note, you may be glad to hear that the colour has returned to Selma's cheeks (see last week's maxim for update)

  1. At least Alexi won't be lonely........and he has his cheery orange sweater to keep him warm.

    1. Ruby,
I suspect that Alexi knit the sweater himself, with his puppy happily curled up at his feet during many a long winter night.

  2. My husband and daughter comment all the time how affectionate our dogs are with me and happy they are to see me when I walk through the door and they wonder why they don't get as boisterous a welcome...I tell them that it is only because I feed them but they don't seem to get it ;)

    1. Danielle,
Obviously your dogs know not only which side their bread is buttered on but who does the buttering.

  3. I know that your true love is kibble
Something to munch on or nibble
    But your dogged affection
    Sent in my direction
To my heart is quite comprehensible.

In the village in England from which I came the dynamic which you describe was known as "cupboard love" (days before refrigerators for the lower classes).

    1. DCW,
One takes love from anywhere one can find it? I'm glad you cleared up the meaning of "cupboard love" for me. I thought it might have something to do with what one does before coming out of the closet.

    1. Sukipoet,
Ignorance is bliss and love is blind and one never bites the hand that feeds! Oh dear, I'm speaking in maxims now like speaking in tongues!

  5. I love the expressions on both of their faces. I think that says it all and that's all that needs to be understood...

    1. Stickup,
That's a wonderful attitude! Happiness just "is" and there's no need to question it. Isn't it amazing how emotion can be described with just a few simple lines in a cartoon? But it must also take a certain sensitivity on the part of the viewer to perceive and interpret these lines and you are very adept at this.
