Maxim of the Week, Temporarily Closed

At the beginning of their early morning yoga session, Swami Lassi's disciples were not quite certain if their guru was meditating or asleep.
Maxim:
Let sleeping dogs lie.

***

Speaking of sleeping, I will be putting Ragzedge to rest for a little while as I attend to family matters  in Vancouver and Quebec.
I may be posting a few updates on my adventures on my other blog, Décolleté over the next 6 weeks, so you can check up on me there, if you like.

Definitely stepping away from art making, though, and regular blogging for a time.

Enjoy the last lingering days of summer.
Have a beautiful autumn.
See you in October.

    1. Nancy,
Thanks! I think I may be needing some, as well as a good stiff drink or two!

  2. Definitely let them lie.. If they are tired they need to sleep.. Coincidentally I was watching Eat Pray Love last night and there was a lot of meditating going on there.
I'll be checking in to Decollete to keep a track of you.. the very best in your summer journeys. xxoo

    1. Gwen,
You are definitely one who would know to leave sleeping dogs where they are; I saw your critters in action as they raced at full barking speed after our car.

I find in most yoga classes I periodically attend, at the end of the session when we're all lying about in "Corpse Pose" there is inevitably a bit of soft snoring that ensues around the room.

I'll be very pleased to have you peek into my Décolleté from time to time! I'd considered stepping away from blogging all together for my time away, but I started to break into a cold sweat at the thought of it.

Summer is really the best time of all to stay at home in the Maritimes, but family "duties" call.

  3. I love this as usual...these always give me an early morning chuckle. I will miss them..but it is always wise to prioritize and family should always come first. My prayers are with you as you nurture the nest. Besides....I have a lovely piece of art to keep me company ;).....I just received the postcard and it is so very lovely. Thank you!!!! You are so very talented yet even with that we all need time to recharge.

    1. Danielle,
I think there are over 200 maxims posted throughout this blog if you dig back through the pages (just click on "Maxim" in the Categorically Speaking column at the bottom of the page). Those might keep you chuckling on a Sunday morning or two during my absence.
I'm glad you like the postcard art, and I thank you for your prayers

  4. I like the way the swami looks like an egg, at least to me. Sometimes it's good to retract and recharge, even if you don't want to, especially if you are identified with being so productive. Time and place. Anyway, it rather sounds as if you may have important matters to refocus your attentions. I hope it's smooth sailing all the way...

    1. Stickup,
He is the guru, he is the eggman, he is the walrus, koo-koo-kachoo!

Funny, I've been in a creative space lately where I don't need to recharge or retract as things have really been just popping...but when I look at what's going on through the filter you suggest as being "identified with being so productive" it makes me feel a lot better about having to step away from it all for a time. There's been this feeling creeping into all the artwork I've been doing lately of it becoming something that must be produced to feed my art blog. While inspiring, I don't think it's necessarily healthy or creatively "worthwhile." Thanks so much for providing me with this insight and alternate point of view.

A little bit of emotional rough waters to sail through in the upcoming trip to Vancouver, with the family house being sold and my mother moving into a condo; this followed by a "last" family reunion of Pierre's kin in Quebec at end of month. But there is a flip side of happiness and excitement to it all as well.

All went well and it was good to have a change of scene. Am looking forward to seeing what's new on your blog! I stayed away from all vestiges of blogging while absent and I must admit, it's a bit hard to get back in the groove.

  7. I imagine it's his way of getting the class to slow down and focus........frequently a good idea but not so easy to accomplish!

    All best wishes Lynne,

    1. Ruby,
The ways of the guru are mysterious and deep, unless they are not. It's up to the disciple to find the meaning for herself.
