Maxim of the Week

Having lost his way hiking in the Italian Alps, Guido sits down and awaits rescue.

If you sit by the wayside waiting for Success, your knees will be too stiff to follow her when she passes

  3. johanna,
I'm with you--no mountain hiking, especially in winter. I think once Guido gets hungry enough he'll find his way back to the inn.

  4. sukipoet,
I wonder if it's only in retrospect that we realize we've been sitting by the roadside rather than running to catch the bus or speed-dialing for the limo.

  6. Amen to that sister. Guido is painfully obstinate!

  7. Otli,
I think Guido needs a good woman like you to tell him just what to do and how to do it.

  8. Stickup,
What do you think, Stickup--maybe a good swift kick up the backside to spur Guido into action?

  10. Leovi,
Guido will be very pleased that he has delighted you in some way. He may even seize the opportunity of your passing to get up on his own two feet and follow you out of the snowbank.

  11. Oh yes, I can definitely appreciate that thought, and unfortunately the climate used to illustrate it too! Love these posts, I really do.

  12. Tattytiara,
I've been having a little knee trouble of that ilk myself. Fortunately, I've been spared the usual frigid climate by wintering on the wet coast in Lotus Land. Back to the deep freeze for me next month, though. Will try to keep the maxims coming to keep you happy.

poor Guido! but i think that a combination of self-help and chance/luck is preferable to any other option :-)

  14. Roxana,
I suspect Guido needs a good woman like you with a romantic soul to jolly him out of his moods. Personally, I wouldn't have the patience.
