I made a texture and applied it, then erased areas of it. I'm just learning how to make textures but Bonnie has created some that give really fascinating effects if you're interested in trying some for yourself.
This weekend's Photo Art challenge is to try an effect that's new to us. I very recently learned on Nancy's intriguing blog a rural journal of this very fun website of free photo effects, Pixlr. I chose a couple of effects there and this is the result. I think it gives a pretty fair impression of a Canadian west coast morning. Well, maybe after a particularly strong cup of coffee...which I'm about to indulge in as I set out for a little blog visiting.
Yup, I've gone coastal.
wowie, that big photo looks so awesome, i want to be there!! maybe i can try this technique on some long winter evening... thanks for the links!
ReplyDeleteTree forms always grab my attention. Photographic effects are such fun especially drop-out. Nice composition.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful where you are visiting!!! and the effects are fab... love the last one.. a real poster feel to it...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.. and a great trip.. ciao xxx Julie
Honestly, I really like the original photo, I find it soft and delicate, very evocative and romantic.
ReplyDeleteYou are having too much fun. Keep it up!
ReplyDeletejohanna,
ReplyDeletePlaying with pixels instead of shovels is a much better way to enjoy winter!
L.W.R.,
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realized that it was probably the tree forms that were drawing me in and making me want to make something with this photo. I agree with you that there is something about the strong tree form that is compelling.
Julie,
ReplyDeleteIt's not Italy, but it's pretty nice where I'm visiting. In fact, it's my birthplace so I'm especially fond of it. I have to thank you for the inspiration for the effects I applied to the last picture...maybe that's why it appeals to you.
:-)
Leovi,
ReplyDeleteMaybe a case of less is more? I did soften up the focus with the texture and a gaussian blur filter in the first treatment. I'm happy that it appeals to you.
Patricia,
ReplyDeleteI'm working on it! Thanks for the encouragement.
deborah,
ReplyDeleteI almost didn't acknowledge your comment as I got distracted by visiting your blog. So nice that you stopped by here; lovely to make your acquaintance.
you always do such creative work... this is great; but, I really really love your banner. Smiles. Thanks. (visiting from PAF)
ReplyDeleteI actually really like the haunting atmosphere of the original photo. But isn't it wonderful that we can take images we find lacking and work some magic?!? I love what you created here.

You have achieved a dreamy, misty morning effect here. Thank you for sharing it here with Photo Art Friday. Looks like you are in a fabulous spot for some artistic inspiration - not that you need any! :)
ReplyDeletekareninkenai,
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for noticing my banner. It's a mixed media painting I made a few years ago that just developed as I went along.
sunflowerkat321,
ReplyDeleteThe first photo actually has a texture applied to it and a gaussian blur effect. Believe me, the original photo left something to be desired...hence the tampering.
Thanks for stopping by!
Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to have one's creative batteries recharged with new sights and colours...especially at this time of year when they don't involve snow!
i love the original but the manipulated photos are fun too. have a glorious vacation.
ReplyDeletesukipoet,
ReplyDeleteNot quite a vacation, but as they say, a change is as good as a cure, especially if less snow is involved.
Wish I was there! Hope you had fun with Pixlr. :)
