Maxim of the Week

Wearing  her freshly laundered uniform, Leslie quickly realizes that she put too much starch in the apron.
Maxim:
Keep up a good front.

  1. Hilarious - I will never hear the expression 'keep up a good front' without thinking of Leslie!

  2. Oh that is funny! I always love the facial expressions, hairdos, footwear, and outfits of the Maxim images.

  3. Susan,
I was just thinking about you! I'm glad to hear I'm still keeping you chuckling. Leslie says she appreciates you thinking of her but would prefer a big tip.
    :-D

  4. Stickup Artist,
    To paraphrase Gibran,

"... a woman who held a cartoon against her bosom said, "Speak to us of Drawings."
    And he said:
Your drawings are not your drawings.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts. "

(I hope you can hear me laughing). I'm really happy you "get" my characters.

Leslie was wondering if you could put in a word for her at the Queen's restaurant out on Rte.66?

  5. Hey, this was the waitress in the Diner I stopped at... I'm sure of it... Right down to the white shoes...
    ;-)

  6. Owen--
    Hey there, sailor,
What's a guy like you doing in a nice joint like this?!

By the way, Leslie says she saw you slip a salt shaker into the pocket of that funny jacket you were wearing.

  7. I see Leslie is left-handed and you know what they say about lefties.

  8. Shirl,
Actually, I don't! Maybe it's no longer politically correct to say it, whatever it is/was? But now you've piqued my curiosity. I hope it's not something like "they have mean little eyes." Maybe you'd better whisper it to me in an e-mail in case there are any "lefties" reading this!

  9. If only it was that easy!

  10. Andrée,
So who uses starch these days anyway, I wonder? I don't even iron! It's a question of learning to put up with life's little wrinkles (or deep creases) and stop worrying. That'll be 5 cents, please.

  12. Sharmon,
I'm glad you got a laugh out of it. Leslie finds the stiff apron is also good for catching things before they fall on the floor: handy when you're a waitress.
