Not All Accounted For
While there is a certain symmetry and highly prized balance in Accounting, it is most definitely not an art. My careful arrangement of numbers, in spite of their obvious and undeniable balancing act, was ultimately proven worthless. The digits were not plugged in to the appropriate spaces and the final sum was more creative than the textbook required. The only real similarity to Art that I can find in Accounting is in its dense and obfuscating language, which is comparable to the type of artspeak used in Art Criticism. My quote of the week: "I haven't got a clue what you're talking about!" (blurted out to my Accounting instructor mid-class).

Brings back those oh so painful memories from my (relatively recent) days at ABC - Atlantic Business College. Oh Lynne I feel for you!
ReplyDeleteThat said, I did manage to get 85/85 on my first hand in test! A whole knew spin on "go figure".
